Festivals Acadiens et Creoles!

Want to go to Louisiana? Want to go with a group of people that know where the Zydeco action is? Read on:

Greetings Zydeco Friends,

Zydeco Trail Tour organizers have been working diligently on putting together a very exciting tour to Festivals Acadiens et Creoles!

We have updated the website with recent information about costs for the upcoming trip in October. Have a look at the costs page. We think you'll find the trip very affordable even for the most budget-conscious traveler among us!

And now for a little history of the Festivals Acadiens et Creoles . . .

This festival is a culmination of many years of efforts to preserve Cajun and Creole music and culture in Southwest Louisiana. Though these efforts were originally focused on preserving Cajun music, the festival came to incorporate Creole music and culture as well, in recognition of the fact that the two are intimately related and both highly valuable and worthwhile.

The festival is actually a cooperative of independent festivals that began in 1977. The oldest single component of this group was the Louisiana Native Crafts Festival (later to become the Louisiana Native and Contemporary Crafts Festival), first presented Saturday, Oct. 28, 1972, on the grounds of the Lafayette Natural History Museum near Girard Park. The other components consist of Cajun and Creole music presentations and the Bayou Food Festival. The combination of these three events focusing on the crafts, music and food of South Louisiana came to be called Festivals Acadiens et Creole.

Read up more about the festival and its history and attractions on the website:

Another excellent website on the evolution of Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music assembled by Louisiana State University-Eunice can be found at:

Space is limited on the tour as we are only taking a maximum of 12 travelers! So let us hear from you soon!

Hope to see y'all on the Zydeco Trail!

Naomi, Lonnie and Jeanie
