The Zydeco Flames have gained a reputation as the West Coast's premiere Zydeco band. The Flames consistently pack the house in venues ranging from contemporary clubs to major festivals and traditional dancehalls. Their sizzling roots rhythms are timeless and the execution of them relentless, with a stunningly powerful groove. The Flames? sixth CD release "Fire It Up", featuring Andre Thierry and Billy Wilson on accordion, provides fans with hot Zydeco in the tradition of masters like Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco and Queen Ida.

Raffle: one night stay at Hotel Monaco

Yes, I know you're going to Norse Hall on Halloween night for the CZ dance with the Mark St Mary Band. But do you want to go home afterward or spend the night in a lush, plush boutique hotel. Hmmmm?

On Wednesday we will be selling raffle tickets again tomorrow night for the drawing for a stay at the Hotel Monaco at SW 5th and Washington in downtown Portland on Halloween night. This great prize, with a value of $175, was donated by Chere Weiss (thanks!). Bask in your fuzzy bathrobe, enjoy the complimentary Starbucks coffee and shoe shine, work up a sweat in the 24 hour fitness center, and mingle with the goldfish in a bowl that they will bring to your room.

The drawing was held Wed., Oct. 30th.

Tickets (which benefit Dance Camp 2010) are $1 each, 3 for $2, 7 for $5, or 20 for $10!

New Board Member

Welcome to Sam McEnany who has joined the Cascade Zydeco Executive Board. Craig Shultz has resigned as due to his heavy travel schedule he is rarely in Portland. Craig is still helping out on the Band Booking Committee.

Craig was a former Chairman of the Cascade Zydeco board and taught zydeco when he's not at a zydeco festival or a bike ride. He has left the Portland area for the midwest. He's dancing here at Gator by the Bay in San Diego. Video from Dance Camp 2007.
