Dance Camp pictures from Lumas
Dance Camp pictures are arriving on Portland Sideways. Relive wonderful memories and see some great shots by Bill Zude and Beryl.
All I am gonna say is that this year's Cascade Zydeco Dance Camp was the best ever and what happens at dance camp, stays at dance camp! Put this on your calendar for next year, it was amazing!!!! You do not ever want to miss this, the Portland people know how to do this and do it well. A special shout out and a thank you to Jamie Morgan and the Cascade Zydeco team who went above and beyond the call of duty on this one.

Sunday, June 21: Sunday Parkway Bike Ride around North Portland--sponsored by the Portland Parks Bureau. Sara will have zydeco music playing in her driveway--so stop along the ride for a few dances! Her home is on N. Congress St. You will hear the music as you approach.
It is my understanding that National Geographic was in town doing an article on biking cities. They spent about 45 minutes at Sara's, started dancing and took pictures too. Stay tuned maybe we hit a national magazine.

The deli has a fantastic menu. Yep this was the food served at Ralph's Beau Jacque party.

by the Bay Area Blues Society
April 5th Sunday
The band--Lil' Malcolm & the House Rockers--was very good Sunday evening. The crowd was medium size in the beginning due to the early start time & the great weather, but by the beginning of the second set, the hall was packed. A fun time was had by all.
Dick
The music was perfect for dancing!

This five-man band centers on guitarist Percy Walker and his two sons, drummer Percy Walker, Jr. and accordionist Lil? Malcolm Walker. Inspired by Zydeco legends like Buckwheat Zydeco and Rockin? Louisiana came to Oregon last night. The walls were dripping with hot
condensation from a roomful of sweaty dancers with crazed grins (oh, that
was me). Every song was danceable. Every song was irresistible.
Curley graciously donated three of his CD's for our Dance Camp 2009 raffles, so watch for that delicious prize!

After a particularly bad day at work, the Curley Taylor dance was exactly what I needed. Within minutes I was transformed from a grumpalump to a grinning dancer among a roomful of grinning dancers. Curley and his band were hot, the ladies were looking good, and I felt powerful and alive.
