Dance Lesson at the Blues Festival

We have two premier zydeco bands--Geno Delafose & Brian Jack (Donna Angelle is cancelled)--plus our own TooLoose Cajun Band--playing this year. Plus a dance lesson with Janine & Roland Jemerson, and a reprise of last November's Birthday Band of Reggie Houston, Jimi Bott, Paul Brainard & Others. The dance floor will be enlarged, and there will be swing-blues bands for dancing on other days. In addition, Sean Donovan (of Seattle fame) is putting together a choreographed zydeco group performance during one of the breaks.

Date: Thursday Evening, July 2 & All Day Friday, July 3.
Admission: Daily donation of $10 and two cans of food benefits Oregon Food Bank.

Contributions

Additional contributions are needed to the Oregon Food Bank in support of zydeco at the Blues Fest. Please send your check--made out to the Oregon Food Bank--to Dick Brainard at 813 SW Alder St. #700, Portland, OR 97205. Contributions will all be sent in at one time next week, so as to show our group support.

Some have asked what we get for our contribution. A Cascade Zydeco booth , a dance floor, overhead sun/rain coverings, zydeco bands & airfares, band accommodations & food. So, you see we get a big return for our contribution.

Geno Almost Missed the Festival

There was a foul-up and Geno's plane tickets were not booked. Last minute tickets are expensive. Geno almost had to cancel. Several large contributions made his appearance possible. Geno agreed to a 50% cut in his fee to go toward air fares, if we could come up with the rest. Peter was able to squeeze $1000 out of the Food Bank, an angel from San Diego committed $1000 out of her personal funds because she is a big Geno fan (a number of folks are coming from San Diego), and CZ agreed to come up with an extra $1000.
