The golden gator award was started last year (2008) by the CZ board to recognize the person that as a volunteer provided CZ with outstanding leadership, commitment to the organization and countless hours to help CZ stay on course.

Last year we started off with Dick, due to were CZ is today for Dick's involvement over the years. This year (2009) many volunteers have stepped up and delivered and we had selected the following Patty Kadel (for her outstanding performance as Treasurer and the glue that keeps us inline), Jamie Morgan (for her devotion towards Dance Camp) and Barbara Wertz (for her incredible talent and countless hours with the CZ website) - in which Patty was confirmed as the 2008 Golden Gator.

KG and the Shakers rocked the house, the burgers and dogs flowed freely, and, incidentally, our official annual meeting was conducted at the 2009 Cascade Zydeco Picnic August 22nd at Ralph Olson's Tangoasis. The 2009/10 CZ Board was presented by last year's board chairman, Jim Lalone, with an overview of our last year's activities and a call for volunteers. Patty Kadel was awarded the 2009 Golden Gator Award for the person who has made a significant contribution to Cascade Zydeco through volunteering. Dick Brainard, the first recipient of the GG Award (2008), passed the plaque to Patty.

CZ owes many thanks to Ralph Olson for hosting this event once again, the Picnic Committee, Jim Emery, Onie Martin, Jim Lalone, and guest cook, Jim Pantazi, for their yeoman efforts, and to KG and the Shakers for two foot stompin' sets of zydeco, blues, and swing.
