Cascade Zydeco Board Meeting Minutes

February 3, 2010

Present were: Janine Tebeau-Jemerson, Patty Kadel, John Klindt, Sam McEnany, Susan Guz

Minutes taken in January were discussed and some revisions in style suggested. They will be revised to reflect a more conventional format and resubmitted.

OFFICE of SECRETARY

Sam McEnany volunteered to assume the position of Secretary. Janine Tebeau-Jemerson volunteered to substitute in his absence.

FEBRUARY 20 ALZHEIMERS FACILITY PRESENTATION

Sam McEnany reported that arrangements were in place for CZ to visit an Alzheimer's facility in Beaverton on February 20 for a dance presentation and lesson. Janine and Roland plan to teach a short lesson and are seeking several more volunteer dancers.

John Klindt suggested forming a regular group to visit care facilities as a form of community outreach.

SOUND EQUIPMENT

It was moved and seconded that Cascade Zydeco purchase an ipod dock to add to the existing sound equipment. A maximum budget of $75 was approved and Terri Jo Bonbright will research costs and make the purchase.

VOLUNTEERS

Diane George has volunteered to represent Cascade Zydeco in our participation in local fund raising auctions as a way to publicize our organization. She is currently working with Oregon Repertory Singers and has presented them with coupons for CZ dances to be auctioned.

SIGNAGE

Susan Guz suggested building a notice board with clips for announcement. The board discussed materials and decided on a gatorboard material in sandwich board style with self-adhesive clips. Patty will research materials. A maximum budget of $50 was approved.

The board also discussed a sign cover for the sandwich board that is stored in the PPAA foyer to read 'Cascade Zydeco Dance Tonight'.

PROMOTIONS

Janine reported that the logo research was turning up issues of cost and expiration dates. She will continue to research possibilities.

2010 DANCE CAMP

Janine and Terri Jo have volunteered to take over as 2010 Dance Camp committee chairmen. They are seeking additional volunteers and will call a meeting soon. It was agreed that the web pages from 2009 camp be revised with the partial information that we have to date, and posted on the CZ website. Patty will make revisions.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Patty Kadel reported that CZ made $120 on the Feb 2 workshop and lost $729.22 on the Feb 6 dance at the Vancouver Ballroom. Current balance in the CZ account is $17,586.40.
