Meeting called to order @6:15. In attendance board members, Patty Kadel,
Jim Lalone, John Klindt, Ryan Matthews, Susan Guz, Patti Renfro & Janine

Reviewed minutes from July 1, 09 board meeting. Minutes approved. One action item to follow up on: picnic committee update, Jim Emery coordinator will be contacted to provide update. As of 8/18/09, Jim Emery has started the purchase of food and related items.
The results of the 2009-2010 board members are final: Jim Lalone to provide a list to all board members with contact info. As of 8/18/09 list is completed with info provided by board members containing phone numbers and email address.
Board reviewed upcoming events that Cascade Zydeco will be involved with. Janine had a question from a guest at the August 8th St. Andrews Church event that needed discussion. Question: The amount of money in the Cascade Zydeco account was the topic between guest and Janine. Cascade Zydeco has an open policy to disclose financial reports along with answering any question about money. The guest made mention that Cascade Zydeco has quite a large sum of money and inquired about this sum of money. Janine tabled this for future direction. Board discussion as follows: What the guest did not understand is that 2/3 of that money is allocated for upcoming events, such as dance camp, live dances, picnic, etc. The discussion was how does Cascade Zydeco provide detail information about financials? The board voted on this topic, results were not to list detailed information due to the amount of time that the treasurer would have to list. The vote: continue to provide a contact number and provide an opportunity for any question about detailed financial be answered by the treasure with full disclosure. Also continue to provide information on Cascade Zydeco website with the minutes posted. On further upcoming events, Cascade Zydeco has booked Mark St. Mary's for the Oct 31st event. Additional events that Cascade Zydeco is involved with: Sept 4th Art Walk downtown Vancouver free street dance, Nov 14th Keep Portland Weird Festival Bon Ton is in talks with playing this event along with Cascade Zydeco providing a booth to promote our group (no cost to Cascade Zydeco).
Financial report provided by Patty Kadel as follows: Report emailed to all board members, balance to date $26,550 with $15,000 allocated towards dance camp and upcoming events. Also the topic of Cascade Zydeco's Capital One credit card, open for discussion as follows: Rewards card cost $39.00 per year with rewards air miles around 30,000. Question: What to do with card? Transfer miles to dollars, use miles, or do nothing? This was tabled for next meeting due to we have time as when the card is renewed.
Tabled from last meeting: Topic of discussion: Ideas, plans, action to get & retain members. Question about current # of members paid as follows: 103 which is on tract from last year with a total number last year of 170. Updated list of members has been completed for the door volunteers to use. Also inquired about tracking which members come to Cascade Zydeco events. Time was at an end, a vote was taken to have an additional meeting for this topic alone. The date for such meeting was presented August 26 at 6:00 PPAA. Vote was to hold this meeting with membership as the topic of discussion.
