1. The meeting was called to order by Chair Jim Lalone @ 6:18 pm. In attendance were board members; Jim, Craig, Janine, Patty, Susan and John
2. The Minutes of the meeting on 03-04-2009 weren't read or approved.
3. The Board discussed CZ's donation to the Food Bank for the Waterfront Blues Festival. There will be 1 + days of Zydeco music with three bands and a Cajun band. The Board approved a $1500 donation for 2009.
4. The Board discussed ways to raise funds for dance camp. The Gig Harbor proposed event was vetoed.
Jim suggested a Mudbug festival with the proceeds going toward dance camp.
Janine is going to research grants.
John suggested a winery bus tour.
Jim is working on a fund raising dance in May with the Band Bon Ton Roulet.
Susan suggested selling the raffle tickets, 3 tickets for $2, the exact change from a $5 for entry into the dance. This was adopted.
5. Help is needed for the upcoming garage sale at Ben's. Help with sorting, arranging and pricing the items. Also help the day of the sale. The date for the sale hasn't been set yet.
6. Susan was welcomed as our new Board member.
7. We discussed our Wednesday night CD dance. The revenue is staying about the same. It was mentioned that we need to promote Zydeco and Cajun music more.
We need to get new people who attend to keep coming back. It was suggested to give each new person a coupon to a future Wed. dance for free entry.
Also, how do we get leads to attend to dance with follows and make the dance fun for follows?
Board members will brainstorm ideas and bring them to the next board meeting.
8. Patty gave a financial report showing that we have over $14,889 in our checking account. Four people are signed up for dance camp. The dance instructors have been chosen and hired.
It is time to promote dance camp now with the band and instructors hired.
