BOARD MEETING MINUTES

OCTOBER 15, 2008

Meeting called to order @6:15. In attendance board members, Jim Lalone, Janine Tebeau-Jemerson, John Klindt, Ryan Matthews. Members Barbara Wertz, Susan Guz & Dawn Madrid. Minutes taken by Jim Lalone.

* Brief reviewed 10-01-08 meeting minutes. Motion to vote on Dance Camp Committee Chair Person, Dawn Madrid to head up 2009 committee. Phone vote from Jamie Morgan (yes) all attending members voted (yes). Dawn Madrid accepted the position and will be organizing the 2009 Dance Camp.

* Topic of discussion: Fill vacant board seat. Received (2) entries along with brief statements, Dawn Madrid & Susan Guz. Ben Groce & Marsha Esther declined their nomination via email.
ACTION: Barbara to post picture, statement & web vote ballot on web site for members to review. Will post info no later than 10/27/08 and voting by members to be completed on 11/28/08. Jim Lalone to follow up with action.

* Topic of discussion: Development of polices for web site information. Items to be listed on home page, questions about listing band events other then Cascade Zydeco events, web site management and outsourcing web site management. Topics were open for discussion only, no vote or direction given. Barbara Wertz is overseeing our website and will provide a summary of ideas for web polices for board to review on Nov. 5th board meeting.

* Topic of discussion: 2009 direction and plans for Cascade Zydeco. Topics were open for discussion only, no vote or direction given. Questions about By Laws, fund raising, marketing, advertising & events were topics. One item that stood out were the By Laws and understanding what a non-profit group can or can not do. It appears that our By Laws need to be updated along with consulting a professional to help our group understand how to write By Laws and other documents. In doing so we will have a road map for our 2009 direction.

* Meeting ended with a vote to raffle a tee shirt donated by Ben Groce, ear marked for our 2009 Dance Camp fund. Penny Holeman & Jim Lalone to over see raffle event for Wed. 15th dance.
