Dick is now soliciting contributions to the Oregon Food Bank in support of zydeco at the Blues Festival. Because we are expanding zydeco into a 3rd. day this year, we need additional monetary donations from our zydeco community. Dick is hopeful that many of you will be able to send donate at least $100; if unable to meet this request, anything less will certainly be appreciated. Remember, it all goes to feed the hungry; but the amount we raise does indicate to the festival organizers our level of commitment to the effort they provide in bringing zydeco to the fest. So, please, help out as much as possible.
NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS! For a total $120 contribution, Dick has received approval from the festival officials to include a 4-DAY GATE PASS with unlimited access. This means $80 of every $120 donation received gets allocated in support of zydeco at the festival (after a technical deduction by the OFB for the cost of the pass). And, just think--with your contribution, you get to dance to 14 zydeco band sets over three days--where else can you find this much zydeco for such incredible value?
All checks should be made out to the "Oregon Food Bank" and mailed to me (Dick Brainard) at 813 SW Alder St., #700, Portland, OR 97205, or handed to me at our weekly dances at the PPAA. I will acknowledge each check as it is received.
Each year, the festival managers look to see our level of support from the previous year. This helps them determine the number of zydeco bands to hire, the size of the dance floor & overhead sun/rain protection to rent, & where & how big a booth from which to disseminate information about cascade zydeco.
Some have asked what we get for our contribution. A Cascade Zydeco booth , a dance floor, overhead sun/rain coverings, zydeco bands & airfares, band accommodations & food. So, you see we get a big return for our contribution.
Thank you for your generous support.
