Another glorious day Saturday with mild temps in the 80s -- just the ticket for the day's celebration of the Gulf Coast at the Waterfront Blues Festival.
There may have been no happier place to dance away the afternoon and evening than at the Front Porch Stage, where the all-day Zydeco Swamp Romp filled the dance floor.
Front Porch Stage is the only stage at the blues festival with a real dance floor. And Saturday afternoon zydeco fans put it to good use.
Driving all that dancing was some furiously fun music, from artists like Keith Frank & Soileau Zydeco,
At the same time that Portland's blues all-stars were paying tribute to James Brown on the Credit Union stage, Keith Frank was offering his own tribute to the Godfather of Soul, adapting "Sex Machine" to the squeeze-box heavy "Zydeco Machine." A classic blues fest moment of artistic synergy.
Later on, the party was kept humming by the free-spirited Jeffrey Broussard & the Creole Cowboys, one of the hottest new acts out of Southwest Louisiana's Zydeco scene.
