The New Iberians, Blues & Zydeco Band

(Willamette Week, Portland OR 10/07/2009) [ZYDECO BLUES] The New Iberians have planted Louisiana roots in the heart of Portland's fertile musical soil. Since 1998, this local sextet has pumped out fine-tuned, polished Zydeco (which evolved from Louisiana Creole music and is a blend of jazz, blues and polka). The New Iberians' newest album, Bon Temps Rouge, weaves zydeco's traditional guitars, accordions, a ripping horn section and a metal washboard into a catchy fabric of Southern audio flavor.

Bon Ton Roulet grooves high-energy zydeco, Cajun, and folk together in the heart of the Willamette Valley bayou, OR. The conception of this band occurred while plunking the guitar, squeezing the box, rubbin the ole washboard, and drinking homebrew at Sam Holmes chateau la musica. We love to play at parties, breweries, weddings, festivals, and generally wherever folks like to dance to zydeco. Laissez le bon temps roulet!

Voodoo Mountain Zydeco

VOODOO MOUNTAIN ZYDECO is a band from the Pacific Northwest that pounds out primal-stomp zydeco music! They pump up groove-filled zydeco tunes with a beefy amplified squeezebox, a soulful saxophone and a ripping rubboard that augments the funky beat laid down by a drums/bass combo. If the party calls for some jump-blues and swinging shuffles, they can certainly deliver--featuring a lead guitar cutting heads with a saxophone horn section--creating a rich jambalaya of hip-shaking mayhem!
