Hello Again Everyone,
Dikki Du (Troy Carrier) here. I want to keep each of you informed as to progress relating to the Offshore Lounge in Lawtell, and keeping my father's dream alive. Recently, I went to the county board of health to ask about the possibility of securing a one-day permit in order to open the building on New Year's Day. The county agreed to issue a permit with our agreement to provide portable toilets (the indoor restrooms are not useable).
So…..I will happily be hosting the 15th. Annual (New Year's Day) Carrier Family Festival at the Offshore Lounge as a tribute to our father.
So far, the bands lined up include Grammy award winner Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band, Dwight Carrier & the Black Cat Zydeco Ro Doggs, Dikki Du & Zydeco Krewe, Corey "Lil Pop" Ledet, and Lil' Pookie. There will certainly be more bands joining us for this event. Music will begin at 3:00 PM, and end whenever we have had enough. The cover charge will be $20, and we will be selling red beans & rice with fried chicken, gumbo and bar-b-que at $5.00--so come hungry! Beer and soda will also be available. And, of course, no smoking will be allowed inside the building.
As to reopening the Offshore Lounge on a permanent basis, we are still working on putting together enough money for a commercial septic tank system ($9000-10,000), plus making repairs to the building (the roof is currently being retarred). Last New Year's Day, we raised $6000 at the door. From this, we paid $3900 toward the note Roy had on the property, plus $400 in estate taxes, and maintenance costs on the building. There is still $2800 outstanding on the note. Additional contributions in the amount of $2728 have been received. We thank each and every one of you who have made generous contributions toward this effort.
Thank you for your love and support,

Hello Everyone,
It's Dikki Du with an update for the Offshore Lounge! It's been a very stressful year--I have taken on my father's dream and want to say Thank You to all of you for your love and support!
At the beginning of August, the Board of Health came through and told me there was work to be done before getting a permit to reopen. We had to run pipes from the mobile homes to the main pond and build a fence around two septic tanks, one around the main pond, cut the grass that was very long around the septic tanks, and remove the trash from the main pond. The Board of Health came back six weeks later and gave us the permit! I spoke with a few places about how much it would cost for the septic tank. They gave quotes from $2200 to $3,500. Once we were ready to begin work, we discovered the quote was for a resident septic tank and not a commercial septic tank. A quote for a commercial septic tank came in at $10,00. That was not the news we needed to hear.
As of now, we will not have the New Year's Carrier Fest at the Offshore Lounge this year. We will have to take things one step at a time--but will keep you all informed of our progress.
Since my father passed away, I have put my life aside, and now the challenge I am facing becomes a big one. I am keeping my Faith, Trust, and Honesty to my father, friends and fans, I have 18 months left to pay on the club at $281.00 a month, and it then it will be paid off!
Please keep me in your prayers and I will look forward to seeing everyone when your here for New Year's (and Festivals Acadiens)! Thank you for all your love and support--and we love everyone, always keeping Roy's Dream Alive!!
Dikki Du!

Dan Franceski, from Philadelphia, suggests we each make a contribution to help pay off the note, and to make necessary improvements to the Offshore Lounge, so it can be opened in time for the New Year's Day Carrier Family/Roy Carrier Tribute event. I spoke with Troy, and he welcomes all contributions. It was decided all checks be sent to Dick Brainard, 813 SW Alder St. #700, Portland, OR 97205. The checks should be made out to Troy Carrier. I (Dick) will deliver/send them to Troy at one time, so they do not get lost in the shuffle. If we accomplish this by the middle of October, Troy should be able to get the septic tank in and approved before the end of the year.
It's time to let everyone know what's going on with "Keeping Roy's Dream Alive."
First of all, I want to thank you all for showing up at the New Year's Day 2011 event at Slim's Y Ki Ki to help keep my father's dream (the Off-Shore Lounge in Lawtell) alive. Over 300 people came to support the Carrier family, so thank you so much--and I love you all. We gathered $6500 at the tribute.
My dad had a note on the Off-Shore Lounge at the Church Point Bank for a little over $6000, so I paid $3000 of it, and am paying $281/month toward paying it off. On August 15, I am putting in a septic tank at a cost of $3500. I am still facing the costs to fix the ladies restroom, pay the lawyer, pay the liquor license, and get an okay from the Board of Health in Opelousas. (Roy Carrier)
I am hoping to reopen the Off-Shore Lounge for the second Roy Carrier Tribute this New Year's Day, 2012.
I want to say thank you to all my friends and fans for all your kind support and encouragement. About $3000 is still needed to complete the required upgrades. Hopefully, we can accomplish this before the new year.
Please keep me in your prayers, and I will do the same.
Thank you,
Troy "Dikki Du" Carrier
